When to Harvest
Harvesting your cannabis plants at the right time is crucial for achieving the best quality and potency. Generally, the optimal time to harvest is when the trichomes — tiny, crystal-like structures on the surface of the buds — shift from clear to a milky white color, with some turning amber. This color change indicates peak THC levels and optimal cannabinoid profile.
Additionally, observing the pistils, or hair-like structures, can provide further clues; when about 70–90% of the pistils change from white to a reddish-brown color, it's often a sign that the plant is ready.
Factors such as strain characteristics and personal preference for effects (more uplifting or more sedative) also play a role in deciding the harvest time. Careful timing ensures that you capture the plant's full therapeutic and recreational potential.
